Over the coming weekend we are moving to a new home.   After about 6 years at our current location it is time to move to a larger shop.

We will be relocating to

21 McBride Avenue
Wonthaggi

over the weekend prior to Christmas.

We will be trading as normal other than being closed on Sunday 20th December 2015, apart from that, we hope that disruption will be minimal.

Our telephone number will remain the same.

From Monday the 21st of December 2015, you will find us at the McBride Avenue address.

Bike Ed Challenge 2015

3rd November

Wheel Heat are proud sponsors and supporters of the Bike Ed progamme in schools. 

This year  (2015) Stratford Primary School won the bikes that Wheel Heat donated to the Bike Ed Challenge.

Yarragon Primary school won overall first place and there was a tie for best boy, between Eli of Yarragon Primary and Ryan of Yallourn North Primary.

Best girl was one by Jenna of Newhaven Primary School

Congratulations to all this years winners.

The Diavelo Protanium Flyer only weighs 14.6 kgs including the battery and has a  4 hour battery recharge cycle.  The maximum cruising speed is 25 km/h with up to 30 km range.

The Flyer is powered by Protanium 25.5 v 6.75 Ah, 162 Wh Lithium Ion battery.

It is available in two colours and comes with high end components including Sram automatix 2 speed automatic transmission and coaster brake, light alloy 6061 unifit frame, 3 piece alloy crankset, Protanium LED display controller, 24 V 180W hub motor and  Schwalbe Big Apple 20″ Tyre with reflective sidewall.

ANNA Meares is a shining light for women’s cycling, but she knows why not all females are rushing to get on bikes.

PEDAL POWER: Olympic gold medallist Anna Meares has urged women to take up cycling as a recreational activity in the wake of a Bike SA survey which reveals just 31 per cent of South Australian women had ridden a bike in the past 12 months.

The dual Olympic gold medallist wants them to know cycling is much more than a sport.

“A lot of women see cycling as a competitive sport, whereas it’s actually a recreational activity as well,” Meares said.

The Bike Ed Regional and State Finals were recently held in Morwell.

As proud sponsors of this event we would like to congratulate all the participants. At the end of the event, the placings were:-

1st  Cowes Primary

2nd  Yarragon Primary

3rd  Gray Street Primary, Traralgon

4th  Newhaven Primary

The Newhaven Primary team won the raffle sponsored by Wheel Heat – the raffle prize being two bikes that the school will use to enhance student participation in Bike Education Program in future years.

They’re now both off to the State finals next month! Congratulations to everyone involved. Happy bike riding and remember to look out for children riding to school.

Phil Hanley wins silver at the World Ironman Championships

Local rider Phil Hanley won the silver medal in the World Ironman Championships recently in Las Vegas.

Phil is a Wheel Heat supported rider and pulled off a fantastic result when one considers that he was competing against fully sponsored professionals.

This result certainly paid dividends for all the hard training and constant support from his local bike shop. You cannot buy this on the internet!
